


Former South Beloit police chief pleads guilty to misconduct

WINNEBAGO COUNTY - Winnebago County State's Attorney Joe Bruscato announced last week that Thomas R. Fearn, 63, pled guilty of 1 Count of Official Misconduct (Class 3 Felony) and was sentenced to 2 years Conditional Discharge, by the Honorable Judge John Truitt and he will forfeit his Firearm Owner I.D. card and firearms.
On May 8, 2008, Veronica McIntyre was transported to the South Beloit Police Department and secured to a bench in the South Beloit Booking area by shackles to her leg and both arms were handcuffed behind her back.
Chief Thomas Fearn approached Veronica McIntyre as she attempted to stand up and placed both hands on her shoulders and pushed her down onto the bench.
In addition, the defendant placed his hands on her neck area and forced her back onto the bench continuing to hold her down as she was in a completely inclined position.
McIntyre went limp, at which time the defendant released his hold on Veronica McIntyre.
Official Misconduct is a Class 3 Felony with a sentencing range of 2-5 years in the Illinois Dept. of Corrections and 2 years Conditional Discharge, Forfeit of Firearm Owner I.D. card and firearms.

Twin brothers arrested after 3K pounds of cannabis discovered
August 15, 2013
MACHESNEY PARK — On Wednesday, Aug. 7, detectives and deputies of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police executed a search warrant at 5128 Zenith Pkwy. #1 in Machesney Park.
During the execution of the warrant a large amount of suspected marijuana was recovered. The marijuana was packaged in bales and stacked inside of the house.
The total weight of the suspected marijuana is in excess of 3000lbs. Street value is in excess of $1 million. A search warrant was also executed at 7406 Shillington, and a large amount of cash was recovered.
As a result of the search warrants two people have been arrested and charged with Violation of the Illinois Cannabis Control Act (Criminal Drug Conspiracy).
Both have been lodged in the Winnebago County Jail without bond. They are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Charged are: #1 Rogelio Mendez-Barreto, 21, #2 Erasmo Mendez-Barreto, 21.
Rogelio and Erasmo Mendez-Barreto are twin brothers.
